The Flood

The Flood
How do the images and the text support each other?
They both are showing the same thing.

What does it mean when it says ‘Rain was pelting on the roof’?
It means rain is hitting the roof really hard.

Why do you think Ama’s mother said she should hang on to her?
So that they don’t get lost.

For what reason do we think Ama grabbed her blanket?
So that her cat doesn't get wet.

How old do we think Ama might be?
Six years old.

How would you feel if you were Ama from being at home relaxing on the couch to being rushed away while a disaster is occurring?
Feeling scared.

Why did Ama and her mother cling to each other?
To stay together.

What had the road turned into? If you were in this situation what would you do?
The road had turned into a slippery wet muddy road. I would get to higher ground.

Who picked Ama up? The man across the road.
If you were Ama and a stranger picked you up, how would you react in such an emergency? I would be thankful.
Why would they be going to her grand parents house?
Because it’s on higher ground.
Where is their house located?
on a hill
Wednesday:
Summarise what has happened in the story so far.
A flood happened and they went to higher ground were safe.

Why do you think Ama did not want her mother to leave her?
So that she doesn't get hurt.

Why did Ama’s mother go off into the dark night while it was raining.
To get lucky.
